Kym Land

I started dancing at the age of 5 years at the Wenn Stage School in Seven Kings and turned my love of dance into teaching deciding to qualify as a teacher with the ISTD. I teach at various schools / gyms in Notts, Herts and Beds teaching ISTD and IDTA Tap and Modern and Fitsteps, as well as first wedding and party dances.

I continue to progress my own professional development by attending various courses and workshops.

I was also one of the first 40 pioneer Fitsteps instructors to be trained by Natalie Lowe and Ian Waite from Strictly Come Dancing.

I have also been fortunate enough to choreograph shows for VAMPS of St Neots using my creative skills to  compliment the singing and acting of the amazing cast that each show has.

Top 10 Tips for the perfect First Dance

Find a piece of music / song you both like and want to dance to.

Choose the style you would like to dance or discuss with the choreographer.

Have you got any injuries that may hinder certain choreography?

Don’t make the dance over complicated.

Don’t over practice between lessons.

Try to practice in shoes similar to those wearing on the day.

Brides – Think about your dress and if you will be limited on what sort of dance you can do in it.

Brides – Think about your hair style in case of under arm turns.

Don’t worry if you make a mistake.

And finally – HAVE FUN!!!!

When we started planning our wedding we knew we didn't want to just shuffle round in a circle for our first dance so we did some searching and ended up booking Kym to help us!
she worked with what we were (and weren't!) capable of and came up with a dance that we were all happy with to surprise our guests. I forgot how big my dress was so I had a mild panic on the night, but apart from one little bit it all went amazingly and everyone commented about how nice it was.
Thank you Kym, we would highly recommend you to anyone wanting to learn a first wedding dance!! X
